Friends for decades, they sought solutions for the environmental needs of their families and the world. In their garages and workshops, they developed their electrolyzer by making it simpler and more durable than electrolyzers available at the time.
After studying traditional electrolyzers, finding them inefficient and expensive, they created a radical polymer-based redesign, eliminating precious metals.Â
Things really got interesting when they used seawater to replace the costly feedstock of deionized water, used by traditional electrolyzers.
Their first experiment with seawater, showed promising results at an astonishing 7 degree celsius.
Patents with 81 noble claims were soon awarded to Evolve™ in 9 countries.
Evolve™ R&D has been further tested and verified internationally by several international labs and universities, including NREL, Calgary University, Strathclyde University, and AERTC at SUNY Stony Brook.
Eliminating the standard costly and slow process of manufacturing by CNC milling, Evolve™ is a polymer solution that can be mass manufactured by injection molding, securing current and future jobs in the local manufacturing community.Â
In 2022, Evolve Hydrogen Inc. won the US Department of Energy’s “H-Prize” Phase One, among only 9 other winners, and the only company in the northeast.Â

HYDRA-PAK, their patented metal hydride, is part of our simplified system for affordable green hydrogen production, storage, and safe shipping anywhere in the world.
Brian Gilman is the Founder & CEO who designed and developed Evolveâ„¢ to revolutionize the hydrogen industry.
He wrote patent US9476133, created 59 patent drawings, assembled the team, and forged public relations with potential customers.
Brian was raised in a family of engineers, and his creative career path never strayed far from the precision work of his roots. His inspired leap and talents in design enabled him to take his vision of Evolveâ„¢ and make it reality.
Brian has always had a passion for cleaner fuel sources, and in 2011 he decided to make one of his envisioned designs come to life. He designed the Evolveâ„¢ device to create high volumes of hydrogen for fuel cells and combustion engines. His extensive research into electro-conductive materials led him to draft the design based on his findings.
